Merton Best Business Awards 2014Community leaders launched this year’s Merton Best Business Awards with a rallying cry to the borough’s superstar companies.

The 2014 awards are the brainchild of Merton Chamber of Commerce, and are held in association with Merton Council and WSM Business Advisory and Accountancy Services, other sponsors include South Thames College and Hartley Fowler, plus a host of other much appreciated backers.

Diana Sterck, the Chief Executive of Merton Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is such a feel good factor launching into our second year of the Merton Best Business Awards. Interest is already high and we are looking forward to working with all our sponsors to help put Merton’s best businesses on the map”

The awards were launched at South Thames College’s Merton Campus, in London Road, on Wednesday (March 26) with a reception and speeches. There are a range of exciting categories that businesses can enter.

Stephen Alambritis, the Leader of Merton Council said: “Right now Merton is the place to be in business. Although many London local authorities have been cutting back on economic development, Merton Council are providing a forward thinking programme of support packages to help our local businesses, including sponsoring the 2014 Awards.

“We recognise the benefits and kudos generated from winning a business award and want to encourage as many companies as possible to enter. Merton is sponsoring town centre awards to encourage all types of businesses across the whole of the borough to take part. It’s a great opportunity to raise your business profile and with a little effort can have a massive impact on sales and recognition.”
